Optoga

Ready-to-use LED module manufacturer. IP65 AC (driver-included) solutions and LED modules for medical applications.

LED modules for medical lighting

Sweden’s Optoga makes ready-to-use LED modules purpose-built for medical applications. The result: shorter product development cycles for medical lighting manufacturers, and a far simpler supply chain. No more wrestling with LED, lens, PCB, and other components as separate moving parts.

Heat

Halogen was the pre-LED technology for medical lighting. Switching to LED brings advantages, the most important being heat and energy efficiency. Halogen dumps heat via IR emission; LEDs shed it through airflow. That avoids problems like drying out open wounds and humidity, and the cleaner fixtures reduce bacterial buildup. A smart trade.

CRI

High CRI matters for medical LEDs. R9 in particular plays a critical role in identifying blood and muscle structures. Across skin tones, high colour rendering of the LED source matters too. Optoga’s products run at CRI > 96, well within the expected medical standards.

Work area

The lux level at the work surface looks like the dominant factor. But for the end user, CCT (colour temperature) shifting, dimming, and arm ergonomics matter just as much. A dentist’s requirements aren’t an operator’s.

Application areas

Examination lighting, minor surgery, major surgery, each has its own standards and requirements. Optoga’s products solve all of them cleanly. Leave the light source to Optoga; you’re left with the mechanical engineering.
